SNAP is a national initiative run by Crimestoppers. It's an acronym that means Say No And Phone It encourages young people to report on the Crimestoppers freephone number (0800 555 111) if they are offered drugs or are aware of other criminal activities.
SNAP Dance's in Bedford is now FIVE years old and started with regular events held at Enigma Nightclub. The dances are now held in the Mission Nightclub, Mill Street Bedford. All the young people who attended dances as well as being safe, had a great night out! Over the years over 20,000 young people have attended SNAP Dance!
Dance nights not only mean great music but free activities and themes of the dances vary. It’ not only fun and safe but also educational; workshops have always been a theme, giving young people information on a variety of issues such as bullying and dealing with exam stress. SNAP Dance's are run by a steering committee made up of members of Bedfordshire Police, Bedford Borough and BPHA, as well as Independent members.
The events themselves are a safe environment for young people aged 12 - 17; they are free from drugs, alcohol and cigarettes. Professional door staff is employed to ensure the smooth running of the nights, as well as Police and volunteers who attend. All volunteers helping at the events have full CRB police check clearance.
