I have added this page to the website to reassure parents of those attending
SNAP Dance's that their children will be safe whilst at one of our events.
- Bedford SNAP Dance is the only local Dance night run in conjunction with
Bedfordshire Police, involving Youth organisations, Pilgrim Housing Association and
other reputable groups. Other teenage nights are held in Bedford but
they are in no way connected to, or endorsed by SNAP or it's organising team
and partners.
- Licensed door staff are used to ensure the event runs smoothly. In
addition Police Officers are present at all SNAP Dances, both inside the
venue and outside. All volunteers helping at the events have CRB clearance.
- Events are organised and run by a management committee, made up of members
of the Police, youth organisations, Pilgrim Housing Association and Independent
members.
- SNAP Dance's are a part of the National SNAP initiative run by the crime prevention
organisation Crimestoppers.
- All SNAP events are free from drugs, alcohol and cigarettes. Anyone found
with drugs or alcohol will be removed from the event and possibly arrested. Anyone
suspected of drinking before entry to a SNAP Dance will be refused admission
and their parents contacted. All cigarettes should be handed in upon entry,
these are given back at the end of the event.
It would make life easier for the organisers if you could ensure you and your
children are aware of the following:
- Entry (and exit) to New York New York is via the front entrance in St
Peters Street. Parents are requested to drop their children in De Parys Avenue
(Opposite the Taxi rank). No dropping off or picking up will be permitted outside the Club.
Clubbers should be met in front of the club at the end of the event and
walked back to your vehicle.
- Except in exceptional circumstance there will be no readmission to SNAP
events. The organisers cannot be held responsible once children have left
the event. We do however maintain a presence outside at the end of the
night, until the area is clear.
- Please ensure that your children are aware what they should do if they
have a problem whilst in the club. They should contact a "worker"
identified by white T-shirts or red / black jackets, or a member of the door staff.
Police Community Support Officers also attend and can also be approached. This is
particularly true if there are any cases of bullying.
- Photographs are taken at most SNAP Dance's, these are mainly for use on
this website (which is a very popular feature with the children). Anyone
objecting to their photo appearing should contact
webmaster@snapdance.org.uk .
Measures are taken to ensure that all photo's on the website are not easily
downloadable. In some instances photographs may be used for publicity
purposes, such as flyers or adverts. Currently we are experimenting by selling
photos online, if you want a particular photo removing from the gallery,
please notify us as above.
- If you have any questions about any aspect of Bedford's SNAP Dances they
should be sent to the SNAP organising committee ( organiser@snapdance.org.uk
) or by telephone (not text) on 07017 000845 (weekdays 9am - 5pm
only No ticket reservations on this number).
We take great pride in the way we run SNAP Dances, we believe that they are
the safest night out for your children. We are sure the many thousands of
teenagers who have attended in the five plus years that SNAP Dances in Bedford
have been running would agree. Remember SNAP Dances are the only teenage
dance night supported by Bedfordshire Police.
